Test your might!

When Hiroaki tolled me that I should be able to solo Ruby Quadavs, I decided to try it. I need another test, and it I die and lose 2000 exp, I can always get it back. Not like I'm a dark knight.

I got down there, rested for curse to wear off, buffed up, and started the battle.

Stone III, Sleep, Stone III, Sleep, etc

That's the whole fight, and I did well. I only got hit like 3 or 5 times, so I was proud... after I killed it 30 minuets later. go me...

Well, I go back there today, and two red mages are already there, and pull while I'm waiting for curse to wear. now, one is a 69, obviously needs the test... the other a 75.... and he doesn't do anything...

I ask them what is up, and the 69 says he is practicing. Now, I understand that. However, I also understand that you are making a line. I had to log shortly after, but I waited about 20 minuets for him to kill it, and another 20 for respawn... I swear, the moment I kill Maat, I will tea-bag him even though I'm a Mithra....

My second post...

I was reading Bannable Offenses today, when I see a post made buy Hiroaki. upon further investigation, I discover he is in fact the same on I know on Odin. so we talk a little about the blogs and such. I decided to go on another adventure. Hoping this will be better than my last one.

I have leveled many jobs. My main is Red mage. However, as much as I love red mage (Hence forth referred to as RDM), it does some times get boring, especially at higher levels with a 27,000 experience to next level. so I decide to level Ninja some (Hence forth referred to as NIN)

Now, NIN is an interesting class. They hardly do any damage at low levels, they cant take more than 5 hits before dropping like a rock, their spells consume an item in your inventory, the items (tools) are freaking expensive.

The first thing that NIN gets that makes it shine a bit is Dual wield. While this doesn't help the NIN much, when people sub NIN, that is one of the things they look forward to using. The second thing, is a nice little spell called Utsusemi. This spell, that can be learned at level 12, has a 30 second recast time and sets up "shadows" that can absorb 3 attacks directed at you.

Impressive? Yeah, I thought so too. "NINs r teh ultimate tank, tey take no daamge!" someone said to me when I was a young level 22 RDM. "Cool! Get the NIN" I said... Then I start leveling the job...

First off, when I actually started to tank as NIN... Total anarchy. First off, I can't keep hate off nuke happy Black mages. Then we invite a monk, so while I'm getting off at most 15 damage with a critical hit on one of my weapons, the monk is hitting for 25 per punch without doing a critical.

One battle, the monk got 5 critical hits in a row and it took 3 provokes to get it off him...

Not to mention, that when I lose a shadow I lose some of the hate I have accumulated, making it even harder to keep hate.

You see, at first the no damage thing sounds cool. But then, you realize that shadows make tanking counter productive.

I currently stopped leveling NIN upon doing my first party in Kazham as it... Double attack eats up my shadows....

My first post

I mainly made this to comment of a few blogs, but hell, why not make another FFXI and copy the holy duo that is [GM]Dave(http://bannable-offenses.blogspot.com/) and GoblinSmithy(http://goblinsmithy.blogspot.com/)?

However, this will be the point of view of an adventurer. There will be no banning of people who piss me off (Blist maybe, but no banning), or stabbing some n00b in the face for going PLD/NIN (more on this later).

For an introduction, I think I will give a brief summery of my world, and all the downward spirals of my "Friends".

Odin... When you think of that, you normally picture a knight with a diabolic-helm on a six legged horse carrying a huge ass sword in one hand. Unfortunately that is not the Odin I speak of today, nay, this is a world, an different realm of Vana 'del.

Now, I like this world, I've tried others, but the people on Odin seem more likely to help than most. That does not mean that we will excuse retardation however. We will try to be nice, but there is a line, the line is somewhere in Valkurm Dunes where newbies become n00bs.

I will get to The Dunes eventually. Today I focus on the next leveling area: Quifm Island.

Now, I hate the dunes, and I really hate Kazham (and outlaying jungles), but man Quifm takes it all.

I have NEVER had a good to great party in this area. I've had decent, but not great. The best parties I have had were ones I had made.

This is the area that decides how well you are going to play the rest of the game, when you enter here, you have 10 levels to 30, and when you leave, you have 5. Kazham is the first place where teamwork really makes an impact, Quifm is what teaches you that.

Now that I've tolled you something you already know (if your reading this), I will get to the point of this first topic: Sub jobs.

I love the SJ system, and I am all for experimenting or going against what people say you should do (in all aspects of the game, I auto attack as red mage to 60, yeah I said it) but there are some things that are common sense.

PLD/NIN... A Paladin subbing Ninja....for soloing at higher levels, a good combo, for parties.... at level 23.... RETARDED.

I like NIN as a sub. I sub it with Thief, and if I ever get Warrior out of the Dunes, I'll do it there too... but a paladin's mane job is to tank. Your NOT A Damage dealer. no, I do more damage than you fighting as red mage than you do as pally.

Now for all of you "NIN IS A TNK BEC0Z HE TAK NO DMGAEG!" I have this to say: If NIN was ment to be a tank, they would be able to wear heavy armor and take more hits than a white mage!

a ninja can only tank after 30 if a thief is in the party, and shouldn't try to tank until they get to 37 for utsesumi: Ni.

Paladins get defense up ability for a REASON.

Now, I'm going to end this now... I can tell it's not too good, I'll come up with better. it's 1 AM now so I think it be time for bed.
